I have just got San Patricio CD and I want to thank you for remembering these brave men who fought for my country, even when a large part of the regular Mexican Army left the people alone facing the Union Army.
Mexican music and Irish tunes belong together just as our history.
The only sad thing is that you are not coming to Mexico City for a concert, a shame!

Now that the Navy Base here in Ingleside Texas has Handed the Keys to the Port of Corpus Christi; The Port is planning avisit from some very old ships durring the week of the fourth of July 2010.
Ingleside is in San Patricio county and San Patricio is not far away. Wouln't it be nice to have The Chieftains give a history session during that time.

This is regarding the performance at McCarter in Princeton, NJ on March 16, 2010. My wife and I were both there and have seen The Chieftains perform there several times before. This performance was magic. There was an energy in the crowd, the musicians, dancers, and singers. It was quite special. We see a significant number of performances every year, and it's only once every so often that that energy happens. It was extremely memorable.

I dug out my copy of Chieftains 1 the other night to bring back fond memories of sitting in front of the radio with my Dad and Grandmother (who were from the Canadian Maritimes and hardcore Celtic music fans), to listen to a "new" group The Chieftains on an Irish music program in Boston, MA in the 60's. Today, I am still playing the music for my kids and grandchildren and enjoying it just as much!

We've purchased San Patricio and cannot stop listening to it. It is a beautiful blend of the Irish and Mexican traditional music - they sound as if they are one - much as the San Patricio soldiers were with the Mexican army. I have been a great fan since 1975 after one of my many visits to Ireland, I have recently bought San patricio. Brilliant or as you say in Ireland Not bad at all. It is a fascinating story about Reilly and his men. A movie was made with Tom Berenger. I am a Historian educated with the american civil war that includes music. It could be interesting you could do irish music during that period. I would love to help you.
